Introducing POST UME examination in Nigeria is what some people said that it was a bad thing to do while some said it is a good development. This was set up due to the Massive examination leakages, demand for gratification by teachers, bribe-taking by supervisors and invigilators of examinations. This menace has resulted to general fallen standards of education and Nigeria is no exception, particularly among developing nations.
Consequent upon this, all Nigerian universities have resorted to conducting post-entrance “Post-JAMB” examination/screening because of lack of confidence in the conduct of the entrance examinations. Many people has written many paper which proposes a model for e-Examination in Nigeria where all applicants are subjected to online entrance examination as a way of curbing the irregularities as proposed by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), the body saddled with the responsibility of conducting entrance examinations into all the Nigerian universities.
POST UME examination was designed and tested in Covenant University, one of the private universities in Nigeria. There were 120 questions drawn from English (30), Mathematics(30), General Science(20), Commercial Courses(20), and Religion Knowledge (20), all for one hour duration. Findings revealed that the system has the potentials to eliminate some of the problems that are associated with the traditional methods of examination such as impersonation and other forms of examination malpractices when taking JAMB.
In Nigeria a lot of student that took JAMB examinations are now preparing to buy their University POST UME form, some University have concluded their own and Some will end their own today e.g Nnamdi Azikiwe University. At Anambra State University, so many jambites where happy in purchasing their POST UME form while some are not happy due to one problem the have in submitting their form through the internet.
Questions set up at Naira Land to know how some student fill about the POST UME, was commented by some students on the implementation of POST UME examination in Nigeria.
POST UME HAS BEEN CANCELED IN NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES. Oghos2k by nickname said that its going to be really bad if its real because PUME is the best thing that’s happened to Nigerian universities.
ade4prof said that The Post UME screening examination in Nigeria Universities is Just like a challenges toward a step in storm to the success of admission and that his Advice to all UME candidate this year admission is to Read Hard, Connection which he refuse to explain and Pray Hard
Niyitex said that POST UME must be council because Nigerian universities didn’t follow the procedure again. That he got 56 in Federal University of Technology Akure Post UME for MCB and there is no admission for him.
Penny3008 said that: I Pray that the post UME should stop in Nigeria because I don’t know the usefulness of it. I score well in my POST UME but I was not given admission. I want you people to know that all this school who said that the cut off make for there Jamb is 160, they are all lying to people, and they just want people to come for the post UME so that they can make money.
Queenzy said that If post UME was canceled 2 or 3 years back, she would have been the happiest person saying that she would have been in 200L right now in University of PortHarcourt that she was offered admission into Port directly from JAMB, but I couldn’t go to school because of POST UME. What a waste. Even after writing the exam with her 227 JAMB score, she lost the admission. If post UME has been canceled it’ll be of great help to students who don’t need to go through the trouble of registration for the silly exam. It will be much easier for students who are granted admission directly from JAMB.
Trakos said that it will be a two edged case for admission seekers in Nigeria if the information is genuine. It all depends on schools.
I said this because P-UME has helped many to gain admission and it has also deprived some of the admission. I passed UME in 2006 &2007 with score 233 and 254 respectively but I was never given admission, not even another course. These two occasions in FUTA, I passed their P-UME with the score 53% and 70% respectively as engineering candidate. I later heard that some candidate who scored less was admitted due to one connection or the other. They made a lot of money all in the name of POST-UME. Thank God I did 2007 MPCE which gave me admission to FED POLY ILARO after a concl Post-PCE. Now doing elect/elcet engineering down here. It will be better if they start using UME for admission directly.
Tunene said that if post-UME is cancelled, good for all Nigerians, my brother score 234, 11/13 in English, 13/20 in Maths, for UNILORIN admissions. He was denied even though we were told that the cut-off for the post-UME was 5 and 6 respectively. We heard later the university only admitted enough students from Kwara and Kogi. What manner of federal university is that? I think that is the first Kwara state university while they are thinking of creating the second one this year.
Dragnet said that May GOD helps us all. . . . Post UME was initially thought to be the key to sanitation of the university admission process. . . .but the reverse has been the case! Pre-degree, Post-UME etc has just turned out to be another money-making venture by the school authorities . . . Lets consider the amount of trouble aspiring students undertake and the amount of money they spend & the frustration, travails etc. . . .all because they want to get “educated” and guess what comes out of all that? NOTHING!! . .but should that be the case??
Ufuoma24 said well, he is am a beneficiary of the P-UME programme so he have no complaints, study hard and stop blaming others for your misfortunes. It’s not a warning, just a piece of advice. GREAT UNIBEN
Objection to the comment by Queenzy -That was an awful rude thing to say the fact that you got admission through Post UME doesn’t mean those of us that weren’t so lucky don’t study and hey for your 411, not being able to gain admission is NOT a misfortune to anyone of us here.
So, WATCH YOUR TONGUE if you read other people’s post very well, am sure you understand what everyone here is trying to say, no one was blaming anyone. Nigerians and their sense of reasoning.
God help us, Delejames just some couple of luck for her,and here she is boasting, ferdiii told him that he misspoke here on this one. That he better apologize. PUME is not any way better than straight admission procedure from JAMB and you didn’t study harder than anybody complaining about the system. The University education in Nigeria is sucked and you are bragging on this misnomer. Haba Dude, Beyond the Implementation Post ume screening examination
Akingboye Omolade Okanlowon undergraduate student from Lagos State University Ojo campus, Faculty of education, Department of Physics , 200LVL said that the Post UME is the best way to test one knowledge , So stop access to sub-standard information Read and Pray to come out with a different.
Engrsegs said that the post UME is okay if and only if the organizers will do the right thing saying that he have lost admission due to post UME twice but does not stop him from reading and he know this year is his year he get the admission leave dose that are boasting alone God will answer us too
All this and many more are the comments gotten from students that wishes to got to universities in Nigeria.
Indeed, POST UME is good for the standard of Nigerian institutions only if all the universities in Nigeria will not allow malpractice to come into it.
