Graduation of NYC members ends yesterday been 20th October 2009. The National Youth Service programme lasts for a period of one year. Usually there are two tiers every year. BATCH A begins in September and ends in August the following year. BACTH B beings FEB/MARCH and ends in JAN/FEB the following year.
In this year, not less than six people died during their service to their father land, Nigeria. According to the Corps Members, they said they were very happy about the completion of the training but as God to grant peace to their fellow members that died during the training.
They pleaded to the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide more adequate equipment to NYC so that they will use it in training the Youths in Service the Nigeria. The entails collection and collation of data on all prospective corps members from the various corps producing institutions nation-wide whose graduates qualify for enlistment into the scheme. Nigerian graduates from foreign institutions report directly to the Directorate Headquarters Abuja, for the evaluation of their certificates preparatory to deployment
Foreign-trained graduates should note that only nationals who graduated before they turned 30 are eligible to serve irrespective of their age on arrival in Nigeria. It is age at graduation for the first degree that matters.
During the graduation, many people pass out with Certificates, some were told to repeat their service due to their bad behaviour during the training and while some lost their life in cause of Serving their father land Nigeria.
